I’m back and ready to play!

Disney was great- people watching, the rides, the extreme dining, the wonderful company, but I am officially ready to return to the real world. I missed my pups, I missed sewing, I missed my own bed and I may have even missed cleaning the cat box- ok, no, but, you get my feelings, right?

I missed several IMPORTANT events, too. My 100th post came and went…actually so did my 108th post, too. I got nominated for the Versatile Blogger award and the Liebster Blog award- I know, I know, you all envy me anew, I know. Sometimes Little Annie even envies herself for her glorious achievements!

A real achievement would be me figuring out how to post the icons for these on my page- so not smart about these theings?!

So now let me thank the responsible parties:

Vickikate makes: What a sweetie! Such a creative soul- one of the first sewing blogs I latched onto and love to go visit.

Good-bye Valentino: A Lady who turned her back on retail, but not style and quality! She is just across the state from me and if I lose 50 lbs her warbrobe may get a midnight raid!

Do you know the following blogs- they are new to me and I am under their spell-

The Perfect Nose: Wry, talented and glossy!

Hollywood Bibliotheque’s Blog: I love old Cinema and this blog is always surprising me

Wanna Be Sewing Something: Great maker and remaker!

Now I want to host my 1st ever give away! Ready? My Husbands Grandmother was a sewista and these are from her collection- I am not up to major re-sizing yet on my skill journey- so I hope a new home is waiting for them.

Let me first share a quote from A Susan Kandel novel- “I dreamed I married Perry Mason’:

‘As far as I know, no one but yours truly has advanced a theory as to why vintage clothing tends to be found in only fouirs or sixes. I like to think it’s because throughout history, voluptous girls like myself tended to be ravished by impatient mates, their dresses shred in the heat of passion, while our petite counterparts, being inherently less desirable, have ample time to hang up their garments neatly, thus preserving them for posterity on ebay.’

Hey, I’m just sayin’ it’s a theory…….

#1

“Ethel! I highly doubt that Mr Pendergast was trying to glance down your bodice while you used the mimeo! He’s a married man!’

#2

“Missy! I think Lewis Finster has spiked the punch again! You’d best be on your guard- he is only interested in rounding your bases! ”

Folks, I’m not just taunting you with these gems- I am offering them up as a giveaway- so if anyone is interested, please let me know in the comments which one you feel will best attract the right kind of man!

Welcome back! 🙂 And congrats on the awards – yay!

That McCall’s pattern is lovely, with the collar and neckline details. (And it’s also my size, so I’d love to be in the draw for it.)

  2. Welcome back! I love that kitty image, hilarious!

And how exciting to be hosting your first giveaway, too 🙂 Pattern #2 is just darling, I would love to use some black/white checked cotton on that one!

    Thanks 🙂

  3. Glad you had fun, and glad you’re back too! In your absence I managed to be nominated for a Liebster award, immediately think that I’d like to pass it on to you, drag my feet on the matter and was beaten to the punch. But I’m nothing if not stubborn, so I’m nominating you anyway. Add it to your pile! And know that I really love your writing and always admire your blog!
Also, if you want to run a little reverse bribery here, I love the collar on that second pattern… just saying… 😉

  4. Welcome back! I’m not entering the give-away because I don’t have the skills, but I just wanted to say that I love what the cat says on the poster. 😉

  5. Welcome back! The quote is pure genius and I will happily accept your theory 😉
And Grandma-in-law had good taste! Number 2 is gorgeous, but then I’m loving 3/4 sleeves and full skirts at the moment… But the I also love tulip-ified sort of pencil shaped meringues too (ha, can you tell what I’m making at the moment?!). And thank you for your sweet comments, you deserve the award! I love your posts as there’s always such humour to them, keep doing what you do!

  6. Welcome back! Congrats on the awards. I think I’ve been nominated twice for that blogger award. I need to do something about those myself. I bet the critters were happy to have you back!

  7. Glad you had a good time at Disney. Congrats on your blogger nominations, too. I don’t sew but those patterns are so “Mad Men”, someone will be dying to win those.

  8. I’ll be looking forward to your posts!

I think to check your theory you need to get a few old people to vote on it. Just 3 is probably enough for statistical significance (well, not) and you can pick whichever 3 people you think will answer how you want. That way you’ll know for sure.

I am pretty keen on both these patterns but I think I fall between the 2 sizes. So which is easier – grading up or grading down? The words “half size slenderette” are a little alarming but nonetheless this is probably the pattern I prefer. Please count me in!

  10. I am anticipating those Disney pics. Any that are truly wacky, feel free to email to me and I will include in a futre Whacked post, if you so desire. Or just use them yourself if they are ALL wacky, of course!!

P.S. Disney would be like my mecca, wouldn’t it? I expect so at least . . .

  11. Seeing this post days late…so glad you had a lovely trip. I’m overdue for one myself. Thank you for mentioning my blog, Wanna Be Sewing Something. It’s less than 60 days old, but you were one of its first followers. I appreciate your readership sewsterhood.
