Wearable Wednesday Tiit

Yeah, I don’t know how to say it without making sure my Mother isn’t around either. Don’t you think the Japanese Tourist Board is pretty angry with me by now? Let me make it up to them with a show of mild love for the ‘apple bunny’ t-shirt. Aw… Is that a dickey? I like this dress, but the hem is a cautionary tale. Gill ruffles? Is that a coffee filter crocheted skirt? Sometimes absorbency is what I look for when I shop….Why are you so angry? You have the coolest sleeves in the collection? Do you remember that skit where Carol Burnett went to a wedding and a funeral on the same day? I made a similiar outfit once, but it was before I learned the importance of pattern markings. I kind of like the blouse….it’s no apple bunny tho….

  1. Ahhh…another delightful foray into Japanese fashions…! Oh, I’ll be rockin’ those side gills! We ALL know everyone needs extra fabric to help round out our lovely shapes – especially on the sides! Now all we need is this little gem in horizontal stripes, and it’s a match made in heaven! I’m sure there could be some butt ruffles or at least a couple fanny-pack-esque pockets added for extra bulk.

LOL at the multi-purpose dress…guess you have to stand accordingly, depending on what event you’re at!

Thanks for a another laugh! Makes my poor, very slowly made creations seem not quite so bad!

  2. Some of the Japanese patterns & outfits truly make me wish I were a thin, hip, young Asian woman. Seriously. They rock!

But that wedding/funeral dress? OMG you are SO lucky I didn’t have tea in my mouth, or I would be sending you a bill for a new keyboard!

  3. It is a rare thing for me to notice the models over the clothes, however these have got to be the most unattractive bunch I have ever set eyes on and if they thought that would somehow make the clothes more attractive they were wrong, please tell me its a pastiche of the catwalk shows, otherwise, yes have to agree ….depressing.

  4. I don’t know which is funnier…the unpronounceably impolite name or the clothes themselves. The models are scowling because they know we’re laughing our stylish, well made and gill-less socks off!

  5. Yikes, are those girls all stand ins for the one in “The Grudge”? CREEPY!
Honestly the whole collection looks full of pulls, puckers and poorly made garments. Not a thing in there you couldn’t do better!

If I was one of those models I’d be upset too if they got me out of bed for this show and didn’t do my hair or makeup before putting a dickey on me and shoving me onto the runway. I’m assuming the name is some kind of wordplay on IT since IT is TI backwards and they just put the two together. It would be pronounced “teet” in Japanese. Should’ve gone with the reverse ITTI, which would be pronounced E.T. and more closely captures the brand’s image according to these photos. I don’t know how to sew, but I could probably do a better job on these pieces. Maybe it’s the Japanese version of Project Runway and they had to scramble to create a collection in an hour?

I would wear the navy dress – would have to be a bit longer though. I like the hooded dress too but I would need to level the hem. There are some good ideas in this.

  8. I would totally wear that apple-bunny T shirt with pride. Some Tiit on my…girls. The rest of these looks just make me a sad panda. I think they chose that name on purpose…just like French Connection UK did.

Wow…reminds me of the fashion show we did in 8th grade home-ec, where we modeled the the first dresses we made. (Of course, this was way back in the last century, when the sexist powers-that-be made all the girls take home-ec.)

  10. Hey, I just wanted to let you know that I nominated you for the Liebster award on my blog. The blog is meant to bring more traffic to blogs with fewer than 200 followers πŸ˜€

  11. FIrst of all, if I was not 53 and if I was wearing that apple bunny t shirt, I would be all smiles! And I was thinking that wedding/funeral creation reminded me more of when Lucy tried to sew her own dress.
