Wearable Wednesday Giles

Just you wait until she gets warmed up- seriously- she is a dance machine! A petulant dance machine in sleepy pants.g5

Look, her dress matches the backdrop! Which matches nothing else!g6

Did she get attacked by an angry paintball brigade?g7

One more button wouldn’t have hurt this look! Shake that invisible martini shaker! g8

Psst- I can see your nipples thru this air filter you are wearing…..g4

No, not a ruffle cuff jumpsuit. I can only take so much! Bring back the paintball Assassins!g9

Huh. I almost like this. On Goldilocks or as a hamper lining.g10

Sadly, this is not Mr Darcy in the lake scene…..

Palette Play!

Gillian always makes me feel like a little kid heading to art class- the best part of the day after graham crackers, of course! Last week after I donned one of my Fathers old shirts to protect my dress, I sat down to read what she had for us now. So this post is about palette creating! This will  not be a tutorial- Gillians post is perfect- I just had so much fun with the idea, I wanted to share my work! Self-Portrait_with_Palette

As a non-tech gal, I found this quite draining- I wrestled with it and of course ended up on picmonkey collaging this bad boy. So here it is: pile-of-leaves

Ok, actually, that’s pretty close. Here is the real thing. Do you think I’m coordinating my clothes to match the dog and cat hair that finely covers it? Perhaps. palette

I was having trouble adding the colors to it, but really, when do I wear solid colors? So I used the seasonal swatches on Picmonkey and other than  wishing for a slightly more tealy green, I’m pleased. Altho a few animal print swatched wouldn’t have hurt my feelings.

Have you done your palette yet? Do you stick to a set color zone or let the muse take you? showgirls_vlv1

Wearable Wednesday Neil Barrett

Now we at the ‘Grievances have long puzzled over the feelings of these models together, haven’t we? This Resort 2014 collection features static pics of the designs and the ‘unwilling?’ models…….nb1

I just hate all of these. From their marine footwear to the bathing caps, I am at the fifth level of meh.

Pugsly, is that you? Did they send you to fat camp?

camp? nb2

Sigh…. No. Lower case…sigh. I cant give it more than that.

nb4

These pants might not even be on frontwards. If she doesnt care, why should we?

nb5

Ok, this is passable. But we’ve seen it on skinny legs before. Tho the corrugated pipe material is a new twist. She looks like an exhaust hose.

She must have forgotten to put her ‘Saint Alphonse of the Blurred Models Parochial School’ patch on her uniform. 2 Demerits!

nb6

Seriously, if you only look from the knee down, it’s like Roger Sterling about to runamuck with his secretary!

nb7

When blankets attack. Seriously, she looks like a very unattractive bell.

nb8

OK, so weigh in with me sewcialists-

a. The models check didn’t clear, so he can’t legally use their faces

b. The models couldn’t stop shaking with excitement at the thought of keeping all these wonderful outfits

c. The model witness protection agency has finally gotten funding

d. Please tell me in the comments what the deal is with this show!

Pyramid Drawing and New Look 6802

As we all know from Ms Gjeometry a good warmup is essential before an event. So, before the BIG DRAWING!!!! for The Plus Sized Pattern Pyramid, my stars needed a little exercise. So, in a failed attempt to make it all about me, I reveal one of my favorite unblogged pieces from this summer. New Look 6802. 6802

Mine is of course tunic length, my favorite thing! Now this pattern is one of those ‘pass over you 4 million times, now I’ve made you where have you been all my life?’ patterns. I enjoyed the make, loved the little knotty twisty business, didn’t even get any knit wedged under the throat plate. Yippee! My only changes involved the side panels. As the pattern is designed, they come down far on the hips and perhaps on another, create a svelte line. On me they felt confining. I likes a bit of swish to the skirt, so I gathered it up to just under the bust. I got the look without the confinement. walk5

But what exercise were you speaking of Anne? Here I must tell a tale. But you won’t repeat it, will you? Last week Bruderlein was cruelly looked upon by his physician and declared portly. Um, ok, I knew this was coming but what can I say? He is his mothers pup- his hobbies all involve reclining, watching, commenting and light snacking. So now we have a nightly jaunt planned. With sisters of course for encouragement.walk4

From their standpopint, it went well.

PicMonkey Collage

One more shot of the tunic then onto the drawing- I’ve made you wait long enough, right?walk2

Now. My little assistants have all been sequestered while we set up the intricate drawing area.IMG_0576

All names have been put on a beloved toy ‘rave wristband’ style. The first toy to be claimed and carried off will be our winner. Will it be Mr Jingles, Liesl’s stuffed rat? One of Katze’s prized smurfs? Perhaps Bruderlein’s  meerkat? Many other popular and well-chewed contestants are in the box and we are all ready! IMG_0579

They circle, they look……..bored

They ignore. This could take a while, but its a marathon, not a sprint here at Chez Barnes! I should have put a bands on one of the cats. Hmmm. Ok, Flannery vetoes that.basket

Oh, they are on it now! Here we go, it’s looking like a real pressure cooker situation here- Down in front! We can’t see the action! I knew I should have invested in a ‘toybox cam’ for this! They’ve moved the box onto the floor, looks like they are getting serious now! IMG_0601

Ok, I think we have a winner! It’s Liesl with Mr Jingles for the win!!!! The crowd goes wild! I really thought she was leaning toward the gator, but no, the squeaker was faulty! IMG_0621

Now, who had their name on the winning toy? I know, I know, this is all very exciting. Perhaps we should pause here for a public service announcement about spaying and neutering……..NO!!! We are going to announce our winner.

It’s Tanya Maile – our Mrs Hughes!!!!winner

Tanya, please email me at bmoviemouse(at) hotmail(dot)com with your address and thank you for playing!!!! Now let’s get these players to the showers!!!

On the whole I like these, I think adult fabrics may be growing on me!
dak1

Ah, who hasnt longed for a business onsie?

da2

I cant figure out what this one is doing. If you pull the cord, does it deploy?

da3

See? Lame is a neutral! I knew it!!

da6

Ok, I think marsupial pockets just met their match!

da5

This vest is very cool, me thinks.

da7

This is an old lady raincoat inside out, right? Is she tattooed to match or is it the most embracing turtleneck ever!?

This last one is what I will wear when Mycroft hires me!

A weekend of avoidance and Pattern Pyramid Plunder!

Easy-Virtue

Ah Saturday- I awake refreshed and stunning as usual. Regardless of what Bruderlein thought, I slept in a bit.Bruder

Don’t call the authorities, he got his kibble! This weekend my industrious husband has a million things on his dance card, just like last weekend. You’d think this would make the sewingroom fairly smoke with activity, right? Well, I’ve been ducking and dodging the parts of Vogue 1343 that I am not thrilled by- it is a bias edge finish nightmare. For me at least- I’m not huge on that task. Last weekend I got the majority of the construction done and now it’s time for all that edging blech!

1343

Who will save me from this fiendish pursuit? Beajay and TwoToast!  I won by glorious default a Plus Size Pattern Pyramid!!!!! Hurrah for me!!!! Playing with these patterns and selecting ones to put back in the mix will help me avoid that Vogue for a good many hours- well it would if I wasn’t so instant gratification girly!  So last evening I laid all the patterns around me on the floor in the sewingroom and welcomed them to their new home. Telling them that soon, they will meld with the richest animal prints and the gaudiest challis! They didn’t respond, but they will come around, I just know it. Want to see? Not the welcome ceremony of course, that’s private and I’ve already put the headdress away, but you can still see the patterns themselves before they disappear into my personal pattern avalanche.

LogoPP

But lets take a moment to reflect on the original pattern pyramid concept and how it all began with a generous gift to a blogger and her wish to share that with the sewing fellowship. This pyramid that Beajay started is very special to me- so many times I’ve passed on gorgeous giveaways because my grading up skills are not amazing, so a pyramids with nothing I can’t use is a wootwootwoot! Ready to see all this? Really ready? Ok~
